vanilla mint cleanse smoothie

While I am obsessed with using clean beauty products externally, I also focus on feeding my body with beauty building nutrients internally. Smoothies are one of the easiest ways to pack in fantastic skin ingredients.

You can make this simple, alkalizing green smoothie as a cleansing breakfast, post-workout snack or midday pick-me-up. For post-workout, I would add a scoop of your favourite protein powder.

I absolutely love The Beauty Chef’s products because they are bio-fermented whole foods. The fermenting process produces healthy bacteria, known as probiotics, and also helps our bodies to more easily break down and absorb the nutrients. The Cleanse Inner Beauty Powder is an all-star greens powder. It contains probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, bio-fermented greens like barley grass wheat grass and chlorella, spices, algae, herbs…and the list goes on! It’s also great for those struggling with rosacea, eczema or acne.

Fresh herbs are a great way to make your smoothies green. Not only do they provide delicious flavour, they are also a fantastic source of chlorophyll. Fresh mint tastes excellent and pairs nicely with the vanilla.

The chia seeds add a nice dose of skin beautifying omega-3 fatty acids, and the banana adds natural sweetness and a creamy texture.

Here’s a little pro-tip: When I haven’t had time to make fresh almond milk (which is a lot of the time!) I use almond butter and water in my smoothies instead. When blended, it makes delicious almond milk in a pinch.
